It is indeed good news! Self-realization is a lifelong process, day-to-day growth in understanding, with milestones. Your announcement, and your willingness to make that announcement, is a milestone. Your life will now change, for the better, as mine did decades ago when I dropped the pretense of being straight, came out to all and sundry, and let the chips fall. If I may offer a bit of advice, do not be concerned about the ebbs and flows in political and societal acceptance. Acceptance will come little by slowly, often painfully, just as political and societal acceptance of gays and lesbians came over the last fifty years, but it will come.
