Hi all,
My Dad has been quite an active Solus for quite some time, and so today, when I finally migrated my daughter over to a Mac, I got her Surface Pro 5. I'm predominantly a Mac guy, but no love of Windows so I thought I'd try Solus.
Overall, I'm happy so far. It seems a better fit than Windows would have been. However, as everyone is aware, there are hardware incompatibilities. This isn't a Solus thing, but a Linux kernel thing, and I found an active project that produces patches to improve compatibility:
https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface
I know building custom kernels is - I guess discouraged is a strong word, but not facilitated. And frankly, the idea of continually patching in an unsupported fashion doesn't sound like a good idea.
So - I guess the question - what would be the path forward on this? If it's live without a touchscreen and pen, I understand, but if it's possible to have an unsupported package with the patched kernel, that would be great...
