Audacious and Deadbeef Play-Pause-Stop buttons blacked out

I use Gnome DE.

When I use Audacious and/or Deadbeef, the Play-Pause-Stop buttons are visually blacked out. I've tried a few other themes. As soon as I go to dark mode in any of them, the keys black out.

I tried direct install and Flatpak both. Same result.

Any thoughts on what I can change to turn them from, for lack of a better way to say it, black to white.

This is interesting because I just encountered a similar issue with the UI with a direct install of Audacious where the UI would freeze the first time I loaded up a song (it would actually freeze all of the Budgie processes for about 10-15 seconds), but when I went to the Flatpak version and chose the Gtk setting (over the Qt) that fixed all my issues.

Have you tried using the Gtk setting on the Flatpak version of Audacious?

@Dutchmaster Unfortunately the developers solution seems to be "Try using a different icon theme"; see this bug report. It definitely works for some themes, but many favor dark play controls.
FWIW I also rebuilt the GTK version and it shows the same issue.

I installed every theme I could find. Same issue with all of them.

When I open Firefox, the Gnome extensions icon on the toolbar also blacks out. If I didn't know it was there, I'd never see it.

Thanks. Ill check it out. Continuing with post, I pulled up a live disk of the budgie desktop - same issues.

Nothing I've tried has made a dent in the problem. It remains pretty much useless.

Seems like they're adding some sort of dark theme, but not sure if that fixes your particular issue
