Find path to an app?

Hi, I'm relatively new to linux, I installed various programs via the included package manager and also flatpak.

I would like to use Mango Hud, but I have no idea how to find the path to the application. https://github.com/flightlessmango/MangoHud

I installed Dolphin Emulator via Flatpak, so if anyone can guide me with a few commands to find the path I would be really greatful.

We have this in Solus as dolphin-emu. Why did you choose flatpak?

You can install "goverlay" it is gui for mangohud,vkbasalt.You can start goverlay through app menu

for future reference, if you wanna locate an executable that's in your PATH, the terminal command is which e.g. which dolphin-emu

synth-ruiner Thanks, I did try that but I get: which: no dolphin-emu in (/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/snap/bin) I didn't know if it was because it was the flatpak dolphin. I just tried some other app names get the same thing 😅

rob When which command fails to locate the executable binary, I always use locate command. It lists all locations where the specified file is located. Viva locate! 😅

rob might not be in your PATH then, or it might have a different executable name 🙂

whereis can also be useful when looking for the location of an executable.
Example:

$ whereis firefox
firefox: /usr/bin/firefox /usr/lib64/firefox

Thanks for the tips! locate didn't seem to work (prob me rather than the command lol) whereis didn't work initially either... but I'm sure it would have with the eopkg installations. So, for a flatpak app whereis flatpak (the reference for the app) did find the file path!

So in the case of dolphin for example:
whereis flatpak org.DolphinEmu.dolphin-emu gave the following file path: /usr/bin/flatpak /usr/lib64/flatpak /usr/share/flatpak /usr/share/man/man1/flatpak.1

Unfortunately locate flatpak (app reference) didn't seem to work either - still the more you know! and I'll put the commands in a text file for future reference.
