Hi,
I haven't been able to properly install a fresh Solus Plasma 4.3, think probably because of my GPU.
My system is a Ryzen 1700 (no iGPU) with a gtx 1080.
I've swept the forums (here, reddit, etc.) and found out that my problem seems somewhat typical: basically, the live USB won't load the graphical interface, it goes to a black screen. I could not make it work with neither nomodeset, nor noeveau.nodemodeset=0;
however! on some rare occasions (can't say when or why), the install media managed to load the graphical system (without me doing anything) and in one of those occasions I managed to install Solus.
Naturally, the fresh installed system won't load the graphical system. I can, however, log into terminal with ctrl-alt-f2; and from there I updated the system with "sudo eopkg up" and then installed binary nvidia driver with "sudo eopkg it nvidia-glx-driver-current". Yet, after rebooting, I'm still at a blinking cursor.
I feel I'm really close to solve it, however I ran out of ideas or suggestions in forums...
Does anyone else has something else I could try?
Some additional info:
- I use grub (I configured my bios to Legacy mode)
- Tested Fedora Deepin and Debian (10) KDE, and both worked without problem. On Debian I even managed to install nvidia proprietary drivers.
- Before this fresh install. I had a Budgie Solus on this very system working flawlessly. I think I installed it about a couple years ago, so it probably started as a Solus 4.0 version, but it upgraded normally, with nvidia driver and everything. Unfortunately I cannot attempt to download such older ISO and attempt to start from there, because Solus Plasma only began after 4.1 I think 🙁
Any help is appreciated!
