Linux documentation is like finding a significant other.. some are great, others need alot of improvement. 😆
--help
or -h
are your friends.
Linux command structure works something like this..
Command -> Argument -> Option
or
Command [argument] [--option]
SOME commands have subcommands.
Then it would be:
Command [--option] Subcommand [argument] [--option]
If you were to type clr-boot-manager --help
you get the general --help file. If you typed clr-boot-manager update --help
you would see the following update: unrecognized option '--help'
. However update
would be considered a subcommand. In this instance the documentation for clr-boot-manager
is not complete.
The flatpak
and snap
commands are full of subcommands.
A very useful subcommand is flatpak list
. If you type flatpak list --help
you will see a list of available columns. So if you type flatpak list --columns=name
you get a list of the flatpaks you have with only the name. I was trying to remove any flatpaks that required anything older than Gnome 3.38 or that were huge and not used often a few months ago.. so I typed flatpak list --columns=name,runtime,size
