Nvidia drivers brick Solus

Hey there, I really love Solus, and I wanted to use it as my main operating system, but I happen to have an Nvidia graphics card (I use DisplayPort if that matters) and when I install the drivers the system gives me a black screen. The only way I can boot into Solus again is if I access the terminal via the shortcut Ctrl-Alt-F2 and roll back the installation using eopkg history. I've tried everything I can think of, but I can't get it working. I'm sort of new to Solus, and I have used Mint, which isn't my favorite distro, but it installed the drivers easily.

That might very well be the issue. Unfortunately Nvidia has introduced a bug in their driver some versions ago, that makes it crash in connection with DisplayPort.

Should be fixed as soon as the 470 version lands. I expect this Friday Sync. You can follow this to see when it's commited.

In the meantime, if you don't want to wait, you could switch to either the nvidia-beta-driver or nvidia-developer-driver, which aren't affected.

Are you using the Hardware Drivers application to install them? If you are you could try installing the beta drivers. I have a pretty new lenovo laptop with nvidia that the nouveau drivers dont like at all. When I have Solus installed I use the beta drivers and uninstall the nouveau ones. If interested just open a terminal and type eopkg search nvidia-beta to find them. I use the current and 32bit ones.
