I know this is a long shot, but I haven't gotten any response to a query in the Dell Community. I thought I'd try to find someone here who has one of these computers, and can advise me.
The thing arrived today, and I've spent most of the day getting it configured. I've installed a Samsung 500 GB SSD via a PCI adapter. That's the disk I intend to install Solus Plasma on. It displays correctly in the Device Manager, and in the Drives Management plug-in, so I know the installation went well. The system knows all about that SSD.
My problem is, I can't access the BIOS in order to get an installer USB drive to boot. The online (PDF) Dell service manual for this model says to press F2 at startup to access the BIOS, and to press F12 at startup to display the boot order menu.
Those are common instructions, and in fact, they work fine on my Dell M4800 laptop. But they have no effect at all on that new Dell desktop. Regardless of any function key I might press at startup, it goes straight to the Windows 10 login screen every time.
I have to be able to access the BIOS if I ever hope to have Solus on this machine. Does anyone here have one of these, and have you ever managed to get into the BIOS on it? Thanks for any help.
