Is there any steganography program in the package repository ?

I just found out about steghide which I tried to use on my phone (using termux). I checked on the package repository and couldn't find anything using steg keyword, I was wondering if there was another software in the repository with the same purpose as steghide, or maybe even something available through Flatpak as I would like to avoid building from source.

this is the stuff of 40's/50's spycraft. steganography literally means hiding info in plain sight and back then it was like a message in a microdot that looks in place on a typical printed page. I wonder what its digital equivalent would be? Anyway, sorry I don't know, it's an interesting question.

brent Digital Steganography does exist. It usually involves hiding data in the raw data of files. Think cleverly adding "noise" to an image that is actually data, hiding files inside of the unreadable sections of other file formats, etc.

Girtablulu This one seems to work although not compatible with many file types, thanks for the suggestion I might try to build steghide and see if I can get it to work.

Far out, appreciate you filling in what the depth of my imagination could not. If the hiding place was known by two, then a form of communication that hearkens back to that era. 'The more things change...' 🙂
