I loved Solus since discovering it about 6 months ago, and until today's update could never imagine using any other version of Linux. Not anymore.

I loved it clean looks and how everything just worked right out of the box. Not anymore. I spent many long hours trying to get the fonts readable on my 32 inch monitor with Linux Mint, Lubuntu, Zorin etc but not on Solus, it just worked right out of the box. Not anymore. The fonts and everything else - icons etc are blurred.

I was going to recommend Solus not just to other Linux users but especially those switching from windows. Not anymore. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I feel really let down by the last update.

Can you please tell us what method(s) have you tried?

I don't know what you mean. I installed the update and it was immediately obvious that there was something very wrong.

As I said everything is just blurred, fonts, icons the lot. The scaling seems to to have changed as well.

In my honest opinion Solus has gone from something ascetically beautiful to something cheap looking.

I still have Linux Mint on my PC and when I have booted it up in the past it seemed so dated after using Solid. Can't say that anymore.

Okay, so.... Do you want to actually help solve the issue, or what's the deal here? Because if it could be solved, that would be great, not just for you, but other potential users.

If it's going to be looked into, then at the least we'd have to know what desktop environment you're using. Knowing what packages were updated might also be helpful; this can be found by running eopkg history. Also, any steps you've already tried to fix the problem would be great, as @GZGavinZhao asked.

Davidb There are thousands of packages in the Solus repository. How is anyone supposed to know what you in particular have installed or updated? No one is a mind reader; please keep that in mind.

Davidb I didn't want to step in because people are already trying to help you, but I'm not going to tolerate this kind of attitude.

Other users are more than capable of helping you collect the necessary information to get help. Regular contributors like @EbonJaeger even moreso because they have their finger on the pulse of development and quite a bit of technical experience working on Solus. So, there's absolutely no need for attitude when they ask for information hoping to help you out.

Davidb Are you actually from Solus.

I am. Technical Lead even. He's a regular contributor.

Davidb I ask because you you just don't even seem to be aware what the last update updated.

You have a massively flawed premise here. We have no idea what is actually installed on your system. You haven't said what Edition you installed, so we don't know what packages were added then. We don't know what packages you added or removed after that. We also don't know if you are on the Unstable or Stable (Shannon) repository, even if we might be tempted to assume it's the latter. And of course we also have no idea how long it has been since your last update, meaning it could be any number of syncs ago that we'd have to go back through. Hell, I am the Technical Lead of Solus and beyond knowing what was in the last few syncs, I can't even help you until you provide that information.

Without any of this information, we can't start giving you ideas of what to looks for. The best we can do is tell you to:

    1. Provide us with the package list from the last update
    2. Ask you to run sudo eopkg check to look for broken packages

Now, if you could please calm down, be respectful, and provide the information that we have requested, I'm sure one of these fine folks will be able to help sort you out.

    Cheers.

What have any packages got to do with it? Surely it's clear that the desktop has changed "fonts, icons the lot".

Thanks for wanting to help but spare me the "OK so do you actually want to solve the problem", mind reader" stuff and other put downs.

You really don't seem to know what you are talking about. Suspect that you have some sort of agenda here. So please don't waste my time
