Dual-Boot with Win7 failed

After the last big update of Solus OS I had some problems with the system. Now I want to install it new with dual-boot (Windows7).

I tried to install the system via the Live USB Stick. I used gparted to do a new fat32 partition for the boot/esp flag.

But the installer tool is calling an error before the system could be installed on the hardware device (DELL Laptop).

The screenshots showing the information:

/dev/sda2 is the windows partition.
/dev/sda3 is Solus OS partition

Please help!

Are you using LVM? That could have caused that problem. If so then do this: sudo lvscan to check which drives have LVM and then use sudo lvremove /dev/the/partitions/with/lvm. And then reboot to see if the problem persists or not.

But the problem is that I don't know whether removing lvm is your solution as you also want to dual-boot windows 7 (why though? It reached EOL). So its better to wait and see what the others say about this instead of following my advice.

wmcig Do you need to dual boot or would running either Solus or Windows 7 work for your needs? If using Windows 7 in a virtual machine would work for you, check out this tutorial, although the screenshots are no longer available.

Infamous711 Judging from the partitions being /dev/sdaX there is no LVM in use.

this is similar and was solved by deactivating the partitions: read it's interesting. Don't know if that completely matches your situation though https://discuss.getsol.us/d/408-solus-install-non-zero-exit-status-5

if you search engine the non-zero error you could be reading all day. So, no, I don't know how to help you. If you made a NEW usb then that could be it. If you used the same usb to re-install then disregard.

thought I would do a little more looking and I found this extensive https://github.com/kyrios123/solus-efi-guide pre-installation tutorial written by Solus' own @kyrios, Bookmark-worthy to me. I came across this wondering if you had the gpt partioned right. He covers it in here.
