6800 XT issues

i got a 6800 xt today (yay)
but i have a couple of minor issues with it
this is on plasma, ryzen 5900x

computer wont shut down, it logs out, screen turns off but not the rest of the computer, after maybe 30 seconds screen comes on again, and very quickly displays some error messages, something about hardware errors mostly related to processor and microcode from what i could see, then after a bit longer it reboots, then from the login screen i can shut down normally - the 6800xt is the only new thing in this computer.
reboot has similar problems, but eventually reboots
vlc wont play videos at all, its just blank and nothing happens. kaffeine the same (uses vlc engine i guess) but smplayer works as expected

other than that it seems fine

none of those issues in windows. i have not tried other distros or other DE - yet.
these issues were not happening with my old 5700xt

anyone seen errors like that?

i think i found the culprit. somehow its openrgb which was set to run a profile at startup. now that ive disabled it the errors are gone, shutdown works normally, vlc plays videos again, and i even get temp readings for the new gpu, which i didnt before.

dont know how to mark it solved
