Nvidia drivers kill OS

Hi,

I have recently had to re-install Solus due to me being a numpty and not giving myself enough space on my EFI boot partition 🤣.

Today I re-installed it and everything was set up fine, however when I install my GFX drivers via "Hardware Drivers" and I reboot it crashes. I have tried this with and without 32-bit option checked. Everything else is fine.

My details are

Linux glados 5.11.22-180.current #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri May 21 11:57:08 UTC 2021 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The GFX card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and I'm running on an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X (12) @ 3.600GHz.

I have tried to look through the journal but was unable to as Alt-F2 didn't work.

Can anyone advise please?

Had a similar problem, fresh install and I started to download updates. It froze when it started to remove the old packages, though i was waiting to install my nvidia drivers via doflicky at the time it happened. I would have retrieved a log if it were possible, but upon reboot, the system was basically bricked. In hindsight, i could have grabbed it when re-reinstalling at that point, but I had to go and just decided to leave the system to install for the night.

All i saw on reboot was that it couldn't find sbin/init and it couldn't use a fall back, wasn't much else useful details outside of that. Sorry for not being too thorough.

[unknown] Yeah, I initially thought that was the issue to be honest as I installed packages after. I will try again now to see if I get the same issue...
