Hello
I'm using Budgie as my desktop. In the past months, occasionally some elements of the UI become unresponsive and stuck on the screen.
The issue happens often with the file chooser, independently on the application, but the budgie menu also does it 100% of the times at first opening after login (and never again), becoming unresponsive for over a minute.
Whenever this happens, the syslog prints
May 25 09:01:14 me budgie-wm[1181]: Can't update stage views actor MetaStage is on because it needs an allocation.
May 25 09:01:14 me budgie-wm[1181]: Can't update stage views actor MetaWindowGroup is on because it needs an allocation.
May 25 09:01:14 me budgie-wm[1181]: Can't update stage views actor MetaWindowActorX11 is on because it needs an allocation.
multiple times.
At least for the file chooser I can confirm that the freeze is only in the display side, since the application below does react to what I do (e.g., it sees the file if I open one), just the window stays there for 30 seconds.
This started happening months ago, with the update to gnome 3.38.
There are other issues on this forum (https://discuss.getsol.us/d/6621-random-freezes-pb-with-mutter, https://discuss.getsol.us/d/6260-screens-been-glitching-a-lot-past-couple-of-weeks-what-could-be-wrong/6) showing similar Meta errors, but they went stale since they were waiting for gnome 40.
Nothing changed for me with the gnome update.
The only similar bug that I found on the mutter repo is https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/1444, which happens however after a fullscreen unredirected window, which is not my case.
Nothing was found in the budgie repository.
A workaround that I found to work at least for the file chooser is to iconify everything using the hotkey, then press it again to return the windows to normal, and everything will be ok. This is however becoming a bit annoying and does not work with the menu.
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks in advance!
