ermo changed the title to Kodi 18 "Leia" has landed in the repo .

Solarmass Another problem I have with Kodi is that on first start 1 of 4 cpu cores is 100%.

So right after the system boot I launch Kodi and ~ 10 sec later 1 of the 4 cpu cores is 100%.
Period of 100% CPU utilisation: about 2 minutes.

I tested:

  • Kodi Solus package and Flatpak version
  • with enabled/disabled addons
  • on idle and while playing video
  • intel cpu PC

    • Is the period with 100% CPU utilisation confined to the Solus native Kodi version?
    • Have you set up your Solus Kodi install to scan your media library in the background on startup?
    • Which plugins do you have enabled?

I don't see this fully pegged core on my end (I'm on an old slightly OCed Q9400 w/a passively cooled NVidia GTS 450 card), so I'm sort of curious about what is happening on your end.

Have you tried backing up your current config and starting a clean Kodi profile to see if it happens there as well?

Yes (Flatpak version has this problem too)

      No

Which plugins do you have enabled?

      YouTube and Reddit

I think I have found the problem: Common plugin cache, which is a dependency for the Reddit addon.
      https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Common_plugin_cache
When the Common plugin cache service is enabled, right after the system boot I can see this picture:

There is a setting to disable Autostart with XBMC for Common plugin cache service. Looks like it solves the problem 🤔

I can't reproduce this problem on NVIDIA GPU PC.

Solarmass Yes (Flatpak version has this problem too)

Your answer is contradictory? And by that I mean that if the Flatpak version also has this issue then the issue is NOT confined to the Solus native Kodi build and thus unlikely to be directly attributable to the Solus native Kodi build as such.

But nice to see that you appear to have isolated the root cause.

P.S. Have you taken a look at the libretro plugin yet?

Solarmass I wonder how to install this libretro plugin 🤔

The libretro binary add-on is already built and installed. You just need to enable it. That said, it still asks you to point to the engine + ROMs you want to play I believe?

The only addon I see with the name libretro - Libretro Compatibility and it is enabled.

Yeah, path to the emulator. How can I get these emulators? Game emulator addons are not available for Kodi (Linux).

Justin I don't know how to do that. And I am not sure if the emulators in the repository will work with kodi.

You could try to use the software center to look for emulators. Then when you've installed one (or more), you can ask eopkg (the solus package manager) which files the package contains by doing a eopkg info -f <package name>.

Give it a go? Feel free to report your findings here to the benefit of others who might want to accomplish the same. 😉

Hello all! Sorry for my "very noob" question, but...how is it possible to pin Kodi ?

                Thank you!

Bouquins For the Budgie desktop. Open Kodi application. Rightclick on the icon and select the star on the left.

Thank you, but when I launch Kodi, it opens full screen; I don't have panel anymore...

Bouquins You can use "\" hotkey to minimize Kodi (window mode) or just switch the workspace (crtl+alt+left/right) if you use it 😉

The little caressing motion at the end is the most important thing.

I'm in the process of landing kodi-18.3 in the -unstable repo.

It now includes the pvr-iptvsimple plugin, which previously didn't build correctly.

                    6 days later

Could someone who regularly uses the pvr-iptvsimple plugin please test the included version in kodi-18.3 and let me know how it went?

                    Thanks.
