elfprince I guess you accidentally detaching tab:
From the comments:
I just wanted to let you know that tab detaching can now be disabled by toggling browser.tabs.allowTabDetach in the current Nightly
elfprince happened once yesterday, I felt it was anomaly because it didnt happen again yesterday or today. Solar's article shows me wrong.
Solarmass I like the ghacks people but I wonder instead of a browser extension for this problem...I wonder if it can be enabled/disabled in about:config?
brent I wonder if it can be enabled/disabled in about:config?
Yes! Just tested it in Firefox 88.
I mentioned this in the quote above 😉
Solarmass Thank you! I must add that I don't get why this behaviour is set to true, when it is pretty much a useless, shockingly unexpected and uncalled for thing. 🙁
elfprince because it is a standard behavior in all browsers. You can detach tab to open it in the new window. I use it but not often.
elfprince As I'm always trying to harden my browser...you be amazed at what's left enabled/true in a:c, but in the name of performance they say (not going to tinfoil it up here)😉
@Solarmass All I could see was Martin trying to sell me an extension; did not get that far in the text🙂
Solarmass I never wished to use it. Just clicking on a tab should not be considered necessarily an intention or invitation to spawn a new Firefox instance.
elfprince it happened to me too. It looks more like a bug.
Solarmass Oh, they are sensitive for sure! 😀
brent Yeah, I 'kinda' tend to believe you. 😆
brent All I could see was Martin trying to sell me an extension
Probably the setting in about:config wasn't available when he wrote the article.
["hypothetically speaking bob"]
Solarmass this did happen to me again today, so I went into config and set to false. thanks again for that.
elfprince so far so good after you changed setting?
brent Changed setting, and so far no wild tabs. 😀 Thanks for asking.
Good to know, I will probably do the same if it will annoy me enough 🙂
