  • Recent LibreOffice documents aren't showing up in the Task Bar

I'm running KDE and have LibreOffice pinned to the task bar. A really convenient feature is if you right-click on the task bar, you get a small list (like 4 or so) of the recent documents you opened in that app. So for example, if you right-click on Calc, you'll see the recent spreadsheets you opened with it.

Its really helpful and convenient

However, for some reason, that isn't happening with me. sure the recent apps will be there for a bit, but after restart or something (I'm not sure what, I haven't been able to figure out what is causing it exactly), that list is cleared.

Its really annoying to right-click and see an empty list. Then you either have to navigate to where those files are, or open the app and hope its in Recent Files.

Does anyone know why this is happening and more importantly, how to fix it? Thanks

@brent They're talking about Plasma, it's in their first sentence. Budgie advise isn't needed. Removed comment to keep it on topic and pinging @Girtablulu.

JoshStrobl OK, no problem. I saw it as a Libre thing, evidently I am mistaken.

Thank you for that, I appreciate it.

I apologize, I should have been more clear in my initial post: yes I'm having difficulty with the default panel.

Maybe it is indeed a LibreOffice thing, as open documents sometimes don’t show up in the taskbar with Budgie too. For me, it seems this happens especially if more than one document is open.

questionman1 Funny thing is it's working again for me, dunno why it wasn't in the first place...

can you run sudo eopkg check and reinstall any packages which are reported broken via sudo eopkg it --reinstall <pkgname>

On my Solus Budgie installation I also sometimes face a strange behaviour of the LibreOffice icon in the task bar (don't have it pinned). Sometimes there is no icon for the running app instance as it should be.
Just started LibreOffice Writer and had the expected icon in the task bar. Closed it and started again - no icon...
I can still see it in the <Alt>-<Tab> apps list and switch to it, but nothing in the task bar after 2nd start.
This makes me wonder if there is something strange with LibreOffice causing issues on different DE's ?
Just also tried with a Write icon pinned to the taskbar as favourite and found bit strange behaviour. If I click on it, it opens a document with a new icon each time instead of switching to the currently open one, not sure if this is expected behaviour.

palto42 I'm also running Solus Budgie, and experiencing the same LibreOffice task bar phenomenon you've described here.

Somebody else chimed in and also said they're experiencing it in Budgie. My only issue is that I don't experience this ina ny other distro: unbuntu derivaties, OpenSuse, etc.

budgie. me too. identical to first post. easy fix (launch another instance and voila all is re-pinned for me. Plan B: open nautilus/recent). Makes me a wreck when I have to Zoom and my stuff is disappeared but fast recovery. An annoynace like a mosquito is how I'd rate it. But not consistent/persistent.
          just an opinion
