Desktop Icons Disappeared After Replacing Caja With Dolphin.

Hi All,
I have just joined the Forum and this is my first mail. I have installed Solus-MATE-4.2 version on my Dell Laptop. I have experienced that it is very convenient and intuitive to work with Solus. My queries here is as below:

I found the Filemanager Caja not very convenient and have replaced it with Dolphin. After removing Caja, when I rebooted the Desktop icons disappeared. I can open the Home folder from the Menu by opening Dolphin and from the home folder I can open any other folder I desire. But it would be convenient o have the Home and other commonly needed items in the Desktop folder on the Desktop.
I have to double click to open Dolphin folders. I could not find this adjustment.
Suggestions on the above shall be most welcome.

Of course, since Caja is responsible for drawing the desktop icons in the first place.... And by the way, mixing, removing and swapping core DE components like a file manager (especially if one DE is GTK based like Mate and the other one is Qt based like Plasma) is not a particularly good idea.

It's in Plasma settings, not in Dolphin settings. Do not try to install it on a Mate system, it's a Really Bad Idea.

Remove Dolphin and reinstall Caja. If you really want to use Dolphin as a file manager, backup everything and install Solus Plasma from scratch (again, do not try to install Plasma alongside a GTK based DE like Mate, it's a Really Bad Idea)

Dolphin was created for Plasma, it will not even show file copy / move progress on other DE's as that information is displayed as part of plasma's panel or panel popup. (At least this was the case last time I tried using Dolphin on Budgie). So it is not fully compatible with Budgie, MATE or Gnome DE's. Some features will work, others will not. As already suggested if you want Dolphin use Plasma an do not install it along side another DE, reinstall with the correct edition.

You may want to try doublecmd if you want more features. Other users may have suggestions of other file managers if you are unhappy with caja. But do not just remove things that were part of the base install, you will end up breaking things as you have discovered.
