Since the last two weeks I've been dealing with a issue in Firefox, that prevents the loading of any DRM protected media. When accessing Netflix or Prime Video, A yellow banner appears at the top of the page, with a message that says "Firefox is installing components needed to play the audio or video on this page. Please, try again later."
This issue is not occurring with the Brave browser. I tried all the possible solutions I found on the mozilla support page, as follows:
1- Toggling DRM on settings does nothing;
2- Restarting the browser with addons disabled does nothing;
3- Checked the gmp settings on the about:config page, it is exactly as recommended, but does nothing.
4- Tried a new browser profile, does nothing;
5- Tried to refresh the browser, but the issue still persists.
I can't say exactly if this issue is related to the system, but got these messages on the Firefox Browser console:
MediaKeySystemAccess::GetKeySystemStatus(com.widevine.alpha) result=cdm-not-installed msg='CDM is not installed'
navigator.requestMediaKeySystemAccess promise rejected 0x80530009 'Timed out while waiting for a CDM update'
Does anyone know what is happening?
EDIT: Just adding this: about 3 weeks ago, it was all working flawlessly.
