yt-dlc is a fork of youtube-dl so yes the commands are the same. Although the executable name was different.
As you can see from the above link it originally started as youtube-dl was slow to merge fixes. Solus switched to it when youtube-dl was removed from github as the fork was not removed because it did not have the same issues as the original project that got them in trouble.
However the original project made some changes and has returned to github. An yt-dlc have not put out a new release since November 2020 and have not even made a single commit since December 2020. Which basically means it is dead. Sites make changes too often for a project like this to ever sit still.
