Budgie Menu in Grid Layout
How's the Menu
prateekmedia How did you do this?
algent little bit of coding, it is not done yet categories and search functionality are broken cause of the old code.
Concurrent PR if anyone's interested https://github.com/solus-project/budgie-desktop/pull/2106
I prefer the list layout
prateekmedia Is it customisable, for example to set custom number of columns.
algent yep defaults to 4, + Custom icon size. It is not added as an option now but it is easy to do.
Who uses menus? All you have to do is alt+f2
For real though, this looks really dope! :D
wow, great work @prateekmedia !
prateekmedia Wonderful option to have. nice coding.

We will see somewhat similar menu with different design and completely rewritten in next budgie version 10.5.3, as said by @JoshStrobl.
Solarmass dates/sizes/items/type/modified---this info always 1000X more important to me than thumbnails. Always been LIST guy but it was an occupational conditioning. No interest in GRID views. BUT.....that said, prateekmedia , it looks fantastic and it pops.

I walk back my comments a wee bit.. What op offers is a one-time graphical look at the menu, not a file manager look. I wonder under each icon, in tiny font, that could be magnified with a hover, if two non-distracting lines of type are inserted under icon or thumb (whatever its called): install date; modified; accessed; size (etc plus or minus if applicable).? Some strange marriage of the best of both worlds here where info is as prominent as visual? Spitballin. You obviously are dreaming big here and I respect that.
brent I can totally understand you*
