ATI Radeon HD5470 driver

I know, this graphic chip is outdated and I think it is not officially supported anymore.

What do you think: Is there any way to make this one work in Solus?
I think currently it is not used at all, because of the lack of a decent driver.

There seem to be tools still available, but I didn't try anything so far. (edit: just noticed, the chipset is not in there)

I just thought, maybe someone has an idea to this or even experiences with this kind of chipset...

This GPU is very likely to work with Mesa. I have a nearly 10 years old laptop with Radeon HD5850, and r600 driver handles it well.
The only big problem I have with it is buggy VAAPI decoding. Sometimes mpv can't render any frame decoded by GPU, and at least a few Mesa releases ago it always corrupted frames from VC1 videos. I didn't find any major problems other than that.

Do I have to do something to achieve that? Or is it already set up in Solus to work?

DasJott No, Mesa is the default GPU driver suite that is preinstalled with Solus. Your GPU should work out of the box with decent performance.

My 12 years old laptop with ATI Radeon HD5750 works with Solus "out of the box". You shouldn't have any problems.

My wifes old machine also worked out of the box (once the defective hdd was replaced 😃 ) with Solus.
Just wanted to make sure, the graphis is supported as good as possible.
That seems to be the case 😊
