Hi,

I don't know how long this problem has been happening, maybe 1 or 2 weeks, but I just realized that after using a headphones on my laptop, when I unplug it, the output goes to phones (unplugged) and doesn't switch back to speakers, I have to open the sound preferences or pavucontrol to put the speakers back on, (3 options there: phones plugged, phones unplugged or speakers).
If anyone has any idea what the problem is?
thank you

I have this happening. Sound is defaulting to HDMI output on my graphics card unless I plug in headphones

Just curious, but can you just open raven and check "Devices" and switch it from there?

-hyphen Yeah, that solved my problem although have to manually switch it. Thanks.

    -hyphen

Yes, I hadn't thought about it, it also works with Raven of course, the best would be to have nothing to do, like before. 😅

Hi posting this to Just to confirm this bug:
    Solus 4.1 Fortitude 64-bit (Budgie)
    Device Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4210M CPU @ 2.60GHz × 4
    Graphics: Intel® HD Graphics 4600 (HSW GT2)
Linux version 5.10.9-169.current (root@paddedroom) (gcc (Solus) 10.2.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils) 2.35.1) #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jan 20 21:06:12 UTC 2021
Here is what happens when viewed in Sound/settings Watch the Output Box for what happens as you plug and unplug the headphones.

Yeah, I have this problem too.

    OS : Solus 4.1 5.10.9-169.current (Gnome)
    System : Lenovo ideapad Y700-15ISK
    CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
Graphics : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M / Intel HD Graphics 530
Audio : Intel 100 Series/C230 Series Chipset Family HD Audio Controller

I'm having a similar problem too. Except it doesn't matter whether the headphones are plugged in or not, the sound only comes out of the DP on my gpu.

    OS: Solus x86_64
    Kernel: 5.10.9-169.current
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (12) @ 3.400GHz
GPU: AMD ATI Radeon RX 470/480/570/57
    Memory: 3358MiB / 16007MiB

Also experiencing the same problem, just chiming in.

Same here on KDE. A reboot fixes it, but it happens occasionally again.

    19 days later

Joining in to report same bug on an ASUS VivoBook Laptop.

In my case, whenever the headphones are plugged in, they're recognized and work good - even if they don't show in the selection dropdown.
As with others, as soon as the headphones are removed, the system doesn't select back the internal speakers as the output device.

    My system:
    Linux solus-asus 5.10.12-171.current #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Feb 1 13:58:04 UTC 2021 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce MX330 - Driver Version 460.39

I also encounter the same issue with a Lenovo Edge 530 Laptop. The system specs are:

    ↪ uname -a
    Linux clare 5.10.15-172.current #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Feb 12 16:35:57 UTC 2021 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    ↪ inxi -A

               Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.10.15-172.current

Is there a reason why we have had no Solus dev's reply to this issue yet?
I am not demanding anything just curious as to what caused it
I just did a clean install on Toshiba Satellite Pro C850 - 14D which uses a Intel Celeron and it has exactly the same issue as my Laptop does.
Happy to get some logs etc if you give me the cmd's to use.

PS: This cmd is from my laptop not the Toshiba Satellite Pro C850 - 14D
    $ inxi -A
    Audio:
Device-1: Intel Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor HD Audio

Issue fixed with yesterday sync & pulseaudio updated to 14.2 😃

Confirming pulseaudio update fixed the issue. Thanks! 😀
