RIP Ozzy, dead at 76

brent First band I played in, when I was just 16, was a Black Sabbath / Ozzy cover band. A few years later I worked as a tech for one of the opening bands at a local outdoor concert venue where Ozzy was playing and got to meet him. He was very drunk, but very nice. Went to a few of the Ozzfest where he started reuniting with Black Sabbath. Those were outstanding shows.
RIP Ozzy, you will be missed, your influence will live on.

Original-Syn OMG that's hilarious in a good way--at 16 you were a made young man like in Almost Famous. Rocker to stagehand/tech--man, you have lived and breathed it. No matter what hat you wore, you had a backstage pass. And met Ozzy. Far out.
I was the guy dancing with his head pressed against the amp--usually in front of any venue.
Sabbath was such fun. His solo career was a little glossy for me, but enjoyable on a certain level. I respected, as an artist, his ability to stay as high-profile as he could til the end. He took the ride.
Guess that's my requiem.

brent Got lucky. The band I played in had solid connections in the area for working these shows. Got to meet a few of the rock gods. It was good times. Never made it as a musician but made plenty of connections and got to meet some of the greats along the way. Good times!
