So I've been trying for a while to get Spotify working in the new Opera sidebar player. It seems to be an issue with DRM and some codecs. I found this thread on the Opera forums, but I'm not quite Linux literate enough to translate between Debian based distros and Solus. From what I can see, all of the content for Opera lives in /home/usr/.config. I found the chromium-ffmpeg snap package, but is there a difference in the ffmpeg package available in the Solus repo? Where exactly would I drop/create the symlink for Solus?

I know it's not needed since I have the dedicated Spotify application, but something about having everything right there in my browser seems nice. Has anyone else got the sidebar player working with Spotify on Budgie?

It works fine for me. Opera piggybacks on Chrome's widevine, thanks to google owning widevine and the shitty licensing agreement they put in place that makes it an inferior experience for everyone that is not google everyone else has to jump through hoops.

If you want to avoid having to install google chrome for drm content such as Netflix / Spotify and assuming you are using opera-stable from the solus repository which will install ffmpeg-chromium as a dependency instead of using a bundled ffmpeg, I would suggest using this script for widevine (drm) support: https://discuss.getsol.us/d/3062-solus-opera-and-streaming-tv/18

Harvey Thank you! I'll give it a try later today and see what happens. Yes, I'm using opera-stable from the SC. I try to use as much from the SC as I can and as little snap/flatpak as possible, it just seems to run smoother that way.

Harvey I really can't thank you enough for the help! Everything works flawlessly now and I have almost no reason to use anything but my favorite browser!
