Hi guys,
could you help me with the right-click menu on budgie desktop?
This option is totally disappeared, and I really miss this drop down menu including arrange icons, set up backgrounds, open terminal, etc.
Right click menus are still available in file manager and in browser and everywhere else.
I am not sure, if it is a new feature or I have just customized something wrong, but I want this option back.
Furthermore, files on desktop can be opened with one click, however double-click is set up in file manager.
Do you have any idea what could go wrong? Thx in advance.

So you're on the unstable repository? Because this is a change that has not hit shannon (stable) yet.

It is due to Budgie having to come up with its own implementation of desktop icons since the feature was removed from Nautilus (Files) which meant it had to be held back from newer versions until Budgie had its own implementation.

This implementation is not designed to replace your file manager or to perform typical file manager actions. If you're expecting something similar to the Nautilus implementation, this is not it. Its purpose is pretty simple:

Display an optimal amount of your folders and files in your Desktop folder, based on screen resolution and our options for icon sizes. This is done in a flowbox so everything will flow top to bottom, left to right. No support for putting icons in arbitrary locations.

Provide options to enable quick access to your Home folder, "Trash", as well as mounts.

Launch items with a single left click.

That's it, nothing crazy. Basically anything besides that is "out of scope" currently. What I do plan on adding (whether before or immediately after a "1.0" release of the implementation) is a right-click menu on the main canvas to provide options for accessing both Budgie Desktop Settings and Settings (Control Center), as well as the possibility to swap between single and double click for launching.

If I understand well, switching back to stable repo should solve my problem?
I found these lines, but after restart I am faced with the same problems as earlier.

sudo eopkg dr Solus
sudo eopkg rr Solus

No because you're now ahead in the package releases, switching back to the shannon repo would really only work if you hadn't already done updates.

Reverting isn't going to fix the issues you raised long-term anyways. The new Desktop Icons implementation is here to stay and is going to be shipped with all the other updates this Friday.
