I keep the Workspace Switcher in the dock because you can grab the app icons and drag and drop them to your desired workspace. It is set to Intelligently Hide in the settings and dodges any windows or full screen apps.
Also on that bottom panel I have the Budgie applet Quick Notes on the left and Kangaroo, Places and Screenshot on the right.
The Screenshot applet is the best I have ever used. I left Gnome for Budgie because this applet! The only similar screenshot tool that comes close to the Budgie Screenshot applet is the one built into the Vivaldi Browser but Budgie Screenshot applet is still superior (mainly because it is system-wide and Vivaldi is confied to the browser and Budgie Screenshot copies screenshots to the clipboard and Vivaldi does not).
I can't figure out how to blend Kangaroo or Places into my workflow. I understand how to use them but whenever I need a file manager I just hit SUPER and type 'Files'. I am keyboard driven to the extreme and I actually think those applets reduce my workflow.
The Budgie Windows Shuffler is on that bottom panel but it isn't visible. If I want to tile anything I use the CTRL+ALT+S binding and that calls up a grid. If I want to tile all my windows to grid I just hit CTRL+SUPER+A.
I can never remember any of the bindings (only because I don't use the Shuffler regularly) so if I forget the bindings I can just do SUPER and type 'Windows Shuffler Control' and that pops up and shows me.
I want to like i3, I really do, and maybe I could if they did some kind of an intro explaining how a tiling windows manager works, but I every time I decide to give i3 a spin I can never figure out how the heck to even find the config. 😛
