Noleon Hello everyone, I just noticed this. I know it's no big deal but maybe it would be more appropriate to name it Spyder 4 since it is the actual version ?
Harvey My assumption is the number does not refer to the version of the application but its python compatibility. There was originally spyder which was python2 and spyder3 was python3. If any rename is required, I would name it simply spyder
algent Harvey There was originally spyder which was python2 and spyder3 was python3. If any rename is required, I would name it simply spyder There is an update to 4.2.0 already submitted and in this update to run spyder3 in terminal is simply spyder instead of spyder3 in version 4.1.5. Unfortunately we can't rename spyder3 to just simply spyder because this name is in the deprecation list.
Noleon That would make sense, the 3 would stand for the python 3 version then. Maybe calling it "spyder" would be less confusing, I agree.
Girtablulu we will drop spyder python2 from the repo in thee future when we completely drop python2, when this happens we can have a look what kind of naming we are going to use for spyder
