Audacity, Ffmpeg, minor puzzlements

Hello,
Solus 4 (gnome) installed, working. Audacity and ffmpeg installed, mostly working. Audacity seems to be missing the
ability to export the custom ffmpeg files I would like to work with ( flac to ogg container). I checked the audacity manual, and what may be relevant is the following from the audacity manual:
"Removal of Libraries Preferences
Some Linux distributions or versions thereof may package Audacity with MP3 encoding and FFmpeg support already linked dynamically to the relevant system libraries. In these packaged builds there is no need to locate LAME or FFmpeg, so Audacity will have no "Libraries" Preferences." Audacity only gives me the normal export choices, no custom ffmpeg stuff. So, do I need to do some path changing to get audacity to see ffmpeg?

I'm on Solus 4 Mate and Audacity uses FFMPEG out of the box for me.

I strongly suggest you install all of the latest updates to your system, first.

I've managed to export a flac compressed audio data in ogg container but:
VLC player and deadbeef refuse to playback the resulting file and Audacity itself can't import it (!!).
It's a non-standard file.

Why not just using flac compression and flac container? That's an option already present in Audacity export menu.

That would be a standard option that generates a standard file and so hassle free for you 🙂

In the menu File > Export > Export Audio... and in the dialog dropdown choose FLAC Files.

Don't forget to change file extension to .flac in the top of the said export dialog or once exported the file.

Hope the hint is anyhow useful 🙂

You might want to check out Ocenaudio if you need that feature. It might have it if you can't get it to work on Audacity. (https://www.ocenaudio.com) 😀
