Could someone enlighten me as to how video (or at least audio) record a program and isolate the audio coming from that program? By isolate i mean i might have dozens different programs that outpout audio but i want my video/audio to capture the audio of a single one. I am trying with OBS and i cant seem to be able to find such an audio option. Not having any luck with Audacity. Any help folks?

Am I right, you are looking for an app the can record auido from a given input (socket, another program, ...) ?
I personally know only 1 app. Unfortunately it is Debain based and cannot be installed out of the box on Solus. I use it frequently to record music from spotify 8-) But you can "install" the app manually on Solus.

The thing is that i have to record two seminars that will bradcast at the same time. I will probably set up a second machine.
[deleted] any chance this will play well on a VM? Or i can simply install some deb based distro on my second machine.. What is the program's name?

yes, I did so. Some time ago, I provided a small tutorial here how to install the deb. But an admin removed it. Reason was he had a different opinion to some things. Go to https[:]//github.com/KibuKuhn/ It's self-explanatory.
For sure you can run a Debian based distro an a VM. This will work IMHO as well.

[deleted] My question is wether the program will play well in a VM not the debian distro. (for example OBS doesnt play well in a VM).
So the package name is audio recorder and is available on the PPAs?

to run something in a VM, you need an OS running in the VM. And then install the app on that OS.
And yes, the app is provided via ppa. But you can download the deb as well.
It's a known issue, that hardware critical applications may not work well or even not all in a VM. You can also try to install a suitable OS alongside Solus and use dual boot (like me).
OBS has also a snap version. Solus suports snap.

[deleted] Not fond of snaps nor dual booting hence the use of vms. Anyway thanks for the responses. I set up two defferent machines so i can record both without worrying about audio or other intereference.

            Just for completeness:

You will also find postings on how to activate snap in Solus. And lots of postings about dual boot in the forum.
