How to disable autorun function ?

I have and another question.
I think my usb web camera have infected autorun.
Is there a way to disinfect the camera ?

bloom autorun.inf is a Windows thing. It's used on Windows to tell the OS that there's something that can be automatically run and how to run it. Modern Windows only looks at it for an Icon and a volume label. Linux does not use these files at all.

That said, how do you know it's your webcam? I've seen a few USB devices that ship with drivers on an emulated "drive" that is displayed when you connect it to your system, but I'm never seen this on a webcam. Is this an IP camera or something?

What told you that it might be infected?

DataDrake Nope, it's not IP camera.It's an simple usb web camera.
It was connected to an Windows infected pc.

And what did you run to detect that infection ?

Anyhow, unless you add your user in the sudoers, you'll be prompted for password when a software needs elevated privileges so auto start isn't really a problem. The problem is rather people typing their password whenever prompted to without even wondering why the system is asking for it.

bloom You're assuming it's a virus / "infected" when you've provided no evidence of it, @DataDrake explained to you what the intent of the file is.

At this stage you are wasting people's time. Please provide concrete evidence and information.

Not only the autorun.inf isn't used on linux but also

Autorun.inf has been used to execute a malicious program automatically, without the user knowing. This functionality was removed in Windows 7 and a patch for Windows XP and Vista was released on August 25, 2009 and included in Microsoft Automatic Updates on February 8, 2011.
