I want to ask you if there is an option to download a newer Solus Budgie iso from somewhere for a new installation?. I need it to benefit from the latest drivers added in the new kernel. Thank you and continue the quality work you do!
Solus 4.1 is the current release of Solus. There are no new ISOs floating around anywhere.
I mean your website, ftp, etc ... not anywhere ... The iso I found on getsol.us is somehow outdated. DataDrake solved this https://dev.getsol.us/T8884 but the update is not found in the iso.
tedi Yes, that's how time works. That change was in April 2020, Solus 4.1 was released in January of 2020. You have to install Solus then upgrade.
My AMD laptop is not booting without this kernel configs. So I can't install ...
tedi Then you'll simply need to wait until Solus 4.2 is released, sorry.
JoshStrobl I'll wait for 4.2 iso. Do you plan a release date for 4.2?
tedi We don't give ETAs. It's ready when it's ready 🙂
JoshStrobl For rolling distro ETA is not very important. I mean did you plan to be ready in some 2021 Q4 or 2022 winter for example, not an exact date.
And maybe you should consider updating the iso every 3 or 6 month for new hardware installation. Thank you, again!
tedi That's still an ETA, even if it's not a specific date.
Not to sound ungrateful or anything but the truth is that iso needs refreshing. Especially by the time the all new cpus gpus hit the market. It will be a necesity.
LunarResident We know. The biggest blocker right now is the kernel though. We don't want to release an ISO with an already EOL kernel.
