Solarmass It's not Monday buuuut....
It should be fixed in rel 219 in unstable. Issue was resolved on my laptop (which had the issue) anyways.
There's some other bits in unstable at the moment that are needing testing (like kernels with BleedingTooth bluetooth security patches), but once more of that has been validated I'll do the sync.
In the meantime, if you want to run the following command, it should install the latest budgie-desktop from unstable (identical to what you'd get in stable) if you want to validate the fix 🙂 You can also do a backup of your settings, which is listed after the install command, and dump them back after doing a reset to validate the label isn't showing in weirdly again, and not have to go through the trouble of setting up the panel again. Note, this isn't always going to work, especially if there have been massive changes to Budgie Desktop like between major Solus releases, so don't think "oh this worked now therefore it'll always work". Just suggesting it for this specific case.
sudo eopkg install https://mirrors.rit.edu/solus/packages/unstable/b/budgie-desktop/budgie-desktop-10.5.1-219-1-x86_64.eopkg
Steps:
- Dump :
dconf dump / > ~/full_dconf_backup
- Reset and replace panel:
budgie-panel --reset --replace &!
- Validate.
- Go back to a comfortable setup:
dconf load / < ~/full_dconf_backup
- Load said setup. Think of it as loading your house in the Sims or something, idk.
budgie-panel --replace &!
Pro-tip: Press Ctrl+D
to detach from the running process (which will close the Terminal unless you're using something like tmux, in which case it'll close the tmux pane or window instead). That way you can close the Terminal without stopping budgie-panel.
