My solus feedback after using for ~ 2 days

Hey all,

Just wanted to say that I am really loving the project. I'm giving you this feedback to shine some light on the things that I have liked and not liked.

Likes:
Disk encryption and installer

The installer was fast and fluid and got me to my desktop in about 5-10 minutes. In addition, it allows for disk encryption with a simple click of a button.
Budgie
Easily better than Cinnamon. I love this DE as it is almost set up completely out of the box to my liking.
Theming
Love the default themes. I haven't had to tweak them yet, so that's good.
EOPKG and the Repos
There aren't thousands of useless packages that have been abandoned, which is amazing. The software store is fine, but I prefer using the terminal, and EOPKG is fast as heck!

Dislikes (no deal breakers)
Encrytpion menu no graphics

When entering to decrypt the volume there isn't anything that graphically presents. This isn't necessarily a problem, but some polish would be nice.
Third party downloads are slow
I get it, the third party software section of the center is slow to install. But, I'm not sure if anything can be done about this.

These are some brief things that I wanted to bring up.

I'd recommend using snap/flatpak/appimage instead where possible - like you say, the third party installers are slow and don't get automatic updates.

terminal installs are better than the software center...

synth-ruiner ...and don't get automatic updates. Just develop a routine to manually check for upgrades. I keep a list of such apps in a LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet and check for upgrades to the apps on the list at the beginning of each month.

Yup, and the Third Party Repository is deprecated anyway. No new software will be added, and the plan is to replace everything with exactly those snaps/flatpaks/appimages.
