Hi, a friend of mine suddenly can't connect her Laptop to a second Monitor. It's a Ryzen 3000 mobile APU and has worked this way connected for sveral months. The same Monitor connected to a Ubuntu driven machine works pretty fine too. Can anybody confirm this behavior on similar hardware? Do you think it's defect hardware or did an update change anything that Solus can't detect via HDMI connected devices? Do you have you any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Issues connecting second Monitor via HDMI
MetaNorm Solus can't detect via HDMI connected devices?
I'm guessing that must be a local problem, perhaps a hardware incompatibility of some kind. Since the monitor works on another machine, I suspect the video card and driver may not agree with each other, so you might be right about a driver update causing the issue..
My media machine is an HP desktop that connects to my Samsung TV via HDMI, and always has done so flawlessly. My main workstation is one I built, and it connects to two full HD monitors via HDMI. Another older workstation I plan to use as a utility server connects to its one HD monitor via HDMI.
All these machines are running Solus, mostly Budgie. The media machine runs MATE. All the computers are fully updated as of last Friday.
Yeah, all other machines I care for connecting as expected. Unfortunately I'm not around to check whether it works via live session or a different monitor.
My hope was there could be a fix or patch for ryzen 3000 series wich is not spreaded within the regular updates.
What's your DE. Show with monitor connected xrandr -q
and inxi -G
DE is GNOME. I can post the output this evening when I can access via anydesk.
Please mark it as solved. HDMI port of the Monitor is defect. Signal was back but flickering. Now it's black again. Thanks for your support nevertheless.
