The issue of (probably CPU pstate) freezes have been haunting me for as long as I had Solus on my laptop. With each kernel upgrade on the -current line, things would get consistently worse; to the point where a freeze within an hour of usage was almost guaranteed.
So I escaped to -lts. It's been wonderful. 4.9 had all I needed and never froze my laptop. I don't know what happened between 4.0x, 4.xx, and 5.0x, knowing that the kernel major release numbers aren't indicative of major changes.
Anyway, with the introduction of 4.14 to the -lts package, I've experienced two freezes in-a-row, same everything else. Looks like the problem is back with this upgrade.
What do you think I should do? Build my own custom kernel (or pull one from another distro)?
I have solbuild, so I could technically "freeze" my own working kernel version by continuing to track kernel.org releases on my own (using the solus build files) and ensure the kernel provided by the Solis repo never overwrites mine.
This is just something to put out here not as much a complaint etc.. Taking matters on my own hand is something I won't find a viable solution to problems as a Windows or OSX user.
