4.1 iso fails to boot w/ "r8169 0000:08:00.0: unknown chip XID 641" error

Hello everyone,

the title pretty much says it all. Any help is appreciated.

I have a running linux system using Pop OS 20.04. So if you need the output of any CLI commands just let me know.

My best guess is that the error refers to my ethernet chipset, which is 08:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8125 2.5GbE Controller (rev 05). But I don't know how to fix it. Kernel version should be fine as Solus 4.1 ships with kernel 5.4.12 afaik, so it should have support for RTL8125.

Download, 2.5G Ethernet LINUX driver r8125 for kernel up to 5.6 unpack, follow README.
You may have to put the r8169 on the blacklist

pomon But that only helps if I already have Solus installed?? My problem is I can't get the live USB to boot to even install the system, so I would need a way to modify the iso. Sorry, but I really don't understand how this would work. Could you elaborate?

Sorry, I got you wrong. Do you have the option to disable cards in bios?

Rev 05 is RTL8125B, support is coming with kernel 5.9.
