Strange Display Issue - Solus MATE

Hi guys. I've wanted to switch to xfce for a while now and when I saw that mate is much better I decided to switch to it instead. So I currently have gnome and I've installed mate but when I switch to it, something strange happens to my display.

There is some info about display in the notification and I'll try to provide it if I can.

it's not recommended to install different desktop environments through the package manager. it might be possible but I've certainly messed up an installation by doing so. it may be easier to take a backup and reinstall using the Mate ISO.

Okay, I've tried this because I've read on some previous posts and solus' docs that there is no problem in installing multiple DE's. Thanks.

Edit: the error says:

Invalid stored configuration for monitor
required virtual size does not fit available size:
requested=(1, 1), minimum=(320, 200), maximum=(16384, 16384)

ah, sorry to mislead you then. I've tried it a few times and it never worked for me. hope you manage to figure it out.

🤔 Don't even bother to fix it. Do a fresh install of Solus MATE.

having the same problem. Even with doing another fresh install, same thing happens. Any solutions?
