HP 3700 (printer) scanner installation?

I need to scan a document with a HP 3700 printer/scanner. I installed the driver package from the repository but I can't really install a ddp driver or select one from the list in the driver menu because there's no option like "install" coming up. The tools like simplescan don't recognize the printer/scanner and hang...

What's the correct procedure to get the scanner functionality to work?

Also simple-scan DID NOT work for my scanner but gscan2pdf (in repo) did. So there's options.

Try the next/Versuche bitte : sudo hp-setup -i

As long as the printer is properly installed, the scanner always works, at least in my case with simple-scan

sudo eopkg it sane-backends

I also use simple-scan as a graphical application to operate the scanner.
