  • Progress indicator when coyping large files ?

  • Edited

I just copied a file ( 7GB) from my NAS onto the desktop in order to unzip it. There is no indicator in the file explorer (I'm using nautilus) that shows me when the copy action has finished. I constantly have to check the file properties. Some sort of progress indicator whould be nice 😉

Nautilus does have an indicator when you say extract zip files or move folders from an external drive to your main machine. But I'm not sure what to tell you besides that this would be an issue for the GNOME developers and not a Solus issue since the GNOME developers are the ones who handle Nautilus. If you want to report an issue I would do so with them.

Report Nautilus issues here: https://github.com/GNOME/nautilus

This is nautilus issue. When copying files to the desktop, nautilus does not show any process indicator. When you copy to some other location you get an indicator in the top right menu bar.

I don't expect this issue to really be something that could possibly be addressed until we upgrade our Nautilus, which is currently held back. Please don't file issues against Nautilus upstream, chances are they're already fixed and reasonably they wouldn't fix something in a Nautilus version that is pretty out-of-date.

Once I roll out the custom view for desktop icons under Budgie, we'll be able to upgrade Nautilus and everyone will be happier for it, including me.

Just a suggestion: what about offering Nemo as an alternative to Nautilus. I also tested Dolphin, but IMHO it's that good...

[deleted] We already have plenty of file managers in the repository... also Nemo is part of Cinnamon which we don't offer.
