would you prefer to use xsane? if so, perhaps it's possible to install from source. I could try to give advice on that.
have you tried any other scanning programs in the repositories? (iscan, utsushi, skanlite, etc.)
I haven't done any scanning on Solus so apologies if this is an unhelpful post. good luck anyway!
