unclemez We will be doing sudo sol update instead of the current eopkg style ?
sol
will be as compatible as reasonable with current eopkg
CLI.
unclemez Will eopkg for the time until the next ISO 4.2 or watherver it will be become an alias to sol (to make our lives easier until we catch the move) ?
sol
is a big enough change that it will likely be Solus 5. Instead of an alias, there will be a script called eopkg
sitting in front of sol
so that when you call it, it reminds you that you are using the wrong command.
unclemez s sol a new package manager or a better re-write of eopkg ? where ca I read about it (if there is a documentation for it) ?
Both. I have not written any public documentation on it as I would like to release regular blog posts about it while we go through the implementation process.
unclemez Talking about that /etc thing, you mean a complete wipe of the /etc folder (after you have done all works and declared it stable) will be for us a mean to factory reset Solus ?
/etc
and hopefully /var
, yes. With the exception of anything in your home directory, it should set you back to system defaults.
unclemez if wiping out /etc means factory resetting of the distro then an entry should added somewhere to allow users to do that with ease instead of going "de mano à mano"
Agreed. When we eventually get to that point, it will be largely automated.
