how to disk partitioning/resizing, resize /swap after installation etc?

Hello there.

I've installed Solus OS on my Acer laptop like 30 minutes back.

This is how my disk was set up when I chose the automatic disk partition option.

I want to partition the disk so that I could accommodate /swap, /home, /, etc in one 500 GB partition and two separate partitions of equal size for backups and such. Any suggestions on how to do that? If there are other options I'm glad to hear them.

Also, I am getting checking media message on the screen at the top left corner when I boot in.

What the option Reboot into Firmware Interface is for in the boot menu?

Finally, when I resize the application windows the transitions aren't smooth. Are they supposed to be like that? The transitioning.

Use Gparted for the partitioning, really straight forward.

Solus is a rolling release, with a weekly cadence (friday's) so any backup of / would be out of date 🙂
as for your /home, I strongly recommend the use of symlinks to your storage drive(preferably) or new partitions, Documents, Pictures, etc. This way any OS problems and you can simply re-install and recreate the symlinks.

Honestly if you've just installed then go back and do it again with manual partitioning. Resizing isn't always guaranteed to work.
