Issue in opening CafeTran Espresso

Hey guys,

Can you please help me with running this translator tool called CafeTran Espresso? Here is their link: https://www.cafetran.com/download-for-linux/

I've already downloaded it and tried to run it as executable, like they told me, but nothing happens :\ I also tried to run it through the terminal (with "java -jar Cafetran.jar" command), but still nothing happened.

Any tips?

PS. my system is 64-bit

Have you tried crow-translate which is already in our repo?

marcusvinicius This app looks very different from crow-translate that I suggested before.

Running CafeTran doesn't look hard.

Download the tarball
Extract it somewhere
Open terminal from inside extracted folder
Run ./Cafetran

I have no idea how it works, but I see that it is launching fine.

You also can make a menu launcher if you use menulibre.

marcusvinicius This could be a possible correlation to the java change that was implemented recently? Perhaps you need to fix some symlinks to fix your java to run this app. Here's the thread: https://discuss.getsol.us/d/4656-java-command-unknown-after-update

Hi mates,

I think I haven't tried both of those ways. I'll probably give it a shot and tell you if it works until tomorrow - I'll also tell you if any of them worked

@algent, thanks for sharing Crow Translate with me, but I see it's actually a different kind of app. What CafeTrans Espresso does is closer to OmegaT, Matecat and so on: they're computer-assisted translation tools. I think Crow can be very useful in other ways though, thanks for talking about it!
