WetGeek Under Windows, I would just press and hold ALT while entering the character code. That appears not to have been adopted by Solus. How can I type a U-00F1 character in order to spell "jalopeno" correctly?
kyrios WetGeek Press and hold the Left Ctrl and Shift keys and hit the U key. You should see the underscored u under the cursor. Type then the Unicode code of the desired character and press Enter. Voila!
algent WetGeek If you know how to compile from source you can check this: https://github.com/ubuntubudgie/quickchar
WetGeek kyrios Thanks. It took me a while (and lots of experimenting) to realize that I needed to hold down the Ctrl+Shift after I released the U, and only then type the F1. It's always fun to learn a new skill! 😀
brent If you ever figure out to put a tilde on the 'n' in jalapeno, let me know. Always wanted to know that one, too.
WetGeek That's what this whole post was about. Press and HOLD the left Ctrl+Shift, then press and RELEASE the U key, and enter F1 (the Unicode code for the modified "n". Just like this: ñ EDIT: Putting it into context: jalopeño
WetGeek synth-ruiner Set up a compose key, it's much nicer. That's the nice thing about Linux ... so many different ways to do the same thing. As Mark Twain famously said, "Anyone who can only think of one way to spell a word obviously lacks imagination."
brent WetGeek jalapeño NICE! Always wanted to learn to do that. Speaking of Twain, note the 'a' after 'l', not the 'o' 🙂
WetGeek brent Speaking of Twain, note the 'a' after 'l', not the 'o' Yeah, like I spelled it in the first post. Clearly, I don't lack imagination!
