minh In "Files" i could see preview but when double-click to view in full-size, it could not open with Image Viewer (Budgie). Does anyone has an alternative to do this? I'm not talking about to convert them into JPEG, just want to view original file
DataDrake libheif will give you thumbnails at least. It looks like GIMP and Krita are the only programs we have compiled against libheif to view the images in full though. Krita might only be for output, ymmv.
kyrios If you're used to command line tools, imagemagick also support this format although displaying .heic files directly often give weird results, converting them in other formats works fine though.
minh I found this issue with libheif (https://github.com/strukturag/libheif/issues/182) and it's closed. So ideally Image Viewer (EOG) should do the job. I tested with eog IMG_2057.HEIC' and got Unrecognized image file format error from EOG window. I don't know if something is missing
minh May be this package is missing https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/eoan/+package/heif-gdk-pixbuf, please advise how to get this install?
minh I have tried to use other distro but end of with Solus again but this problem still. I could not manage my photos library (copy from iPhone, iPad) use gThumb. Anyone has same issue? It looks like picture below. I guess the Mime Type is wrong.
minh Not sure if anyone has same use case like me or no one using Apple devices and Linux? Anyway I rebuilt the package myself and got it works. Now we would share this by submitting the changes but I need maintainer permission.
algent Anyway I rebuilt the package myself and got it works. Now we would share this by submitting the changes but I need maintainer permission. Hi @minh, the maintainer of this package isn't part of Solus anymore. Please submit your changes in our Dev Tracker.
