Today I have installed Solus on an old laptop with very low resources in order to see if i could make any profit of it, as it cannot even run windows. I downloaded the live-iso of Solus MATE, which worked fine, everything looking good, booted up Solus, login screen looks just fine but the moment I enter the password and the desktop starts loading the desktop looks broken. The moment I turn it off, just before shuting down it looks fine.

Also, at boot it says:
[ 0.001857] do_IRQ: 1.55 No irq handler for vector
But after a few seconds it loads.

I have tried to $ sudo eopkg upgrade and rebooted with the problem also being there, and a clean reinstall too.
Should I redownload the .iso and reburn it to the USB? might the system be corrupt?

My father changed it to Ubuntu MATE, which doesnt have this issue. I can reinstall it if testing is necessary.

    having the same problem here, also tried to install it on an old hardware. After the installation, logged in, and boom, the screen just went crazy. Did you found any fix? Thanks for the response

    apparently the mate's compositor cause this problem, try hitting super/win button then typing "mate tweak" and click on window tab, alternate to marco(no composition) . I hope it helps

      For others who came for answers
      Solution is
      Since u can't enter terminal cause of borked desktop
      Press ctrl+alt+f2
      U will be taken to tty
      Login with your username and pass
      Then
      Type "sudo eopkg install linux-lts"
      It will install lts kernel
      Then type "sudo shutdown -h now"
      This will shutdown your pc
      Now when pc is starting keep pressing space button
      A menu will apprear
      Select the lts kernel
      U will enter the desktop now
      Open a terminal
      Type "sudo clr-boot-manager update"
      This will make the lts kernel default when booting so that u don't have to press space every time
      Enjoy your install solus now 😀
