Can't execute imagemagick

I need to resize some photos. Imagemagick is installed, according to the Software Center (and eopkg), but I can't find it in the main menu, can't find it by searching from the main menu, and can't run it from the terminal.

Running eopkg li | grep image shows that it's installed, but I can't find a way to execute it. I found no help in the forum search. Any ideas?

Imagemagick is a collection of command-line utilities, not a GUI environment.

I didn't realize it was a collection. Is there a way to find out what utilities it contains? Should I be able to run those from the command line? I'm trying to resize a big image.

  Convert file type:

      magick image.png image.jpg

  Resize an image, making a new copy:

      magick convert -resize 100x100 image.jpg image.jpg

  Create a GIF using images:

      magick *.jpg images.gif

  Create checkerboard pattern:

      magick -size 640x480 pattern:checkerboard checkerboard.png

  Convert images to individual PDF pages:

      magick *.jpg +adjoin page-%d.pdf

Thanks to everyone who offered help! Since I only needed to resize one image, I decided to just boot Windows and use the resizing tool I wrote for the purpose. One of these days I'm going to rewrite it in Python, so I can use it in Linux, too.

The Man can be confusing so the command to resize a .jpg is simply convert -resize 100x100 image.jpg resized-image.jpg
Leave out the Magick part. Hope that helps.

Next time just try gthumb - Image viewer and browser utility

Very simple tool but has many features like resizing, cropping, etc.
