Cannot run a sudo command with any of the created passwords

I just installed Solus Plasma and created two users during installation, one with administrative privileges and one without. When I logged into the user without admin privileges and enter a sudo command I receive errors. I have created a root password, but no matte what all of the passwords I enter return : "Sorry try again" or in the case of the current user : "username is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported."

Do I have to manually add the administrator to this file or is there something else at play here?

Sorry if this is too vague, I am fairly new to linux and thanks for any help.

sporacubensis Did you alter the sudoers file at all? I've broken entire systems using that many times.

No I haven't touched the sudoers file yet, but that is what I am looking up now. Is there something specific not to do when changing it or is this something best left alone all together?

The difference between a user with administative capabilities and a without administative capabilities is that the user without administative capabilities doesn't have administative capabilities and thus is not in the sudoers file for example.

This means if you try to sudo with that user, you'll get a message saying "user is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.". And if you try to run an application that requires elevated privileges from the GUI (pkexec), it will prompt for the password of a user that has administrative privileges (the username should be shown in the authentication popup).

Ok and thank you all commands are running now. I had assumed that any user could run the sudo command if they knew the appropriate password.

When I first had the issue I logged into both accounts to run the commands but I might have misspelled the password, because today the administrator account was able to run the commands just fine. Thanks again, I can't wait to start working from this distro.
