Aquarium Screensaver?

I've seen these used on Windows machines, but have been unable to find one for Linux. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I'm not interested in an ASCII version.

I know my cat, Arwen, loves fish, and she would probably go nuts chasing them around on a monitor screen, especially if they were swimming around on our flatscreen TV. Anyone know where I could find something like that? Would much prefer something I could install, rather than build.

Extra points for a recommendation that you've actually used in Solus!

The only methods I have seen on various Linux forums over the years include running windows screensavers in wine.

Thanks. I'll give that a try.

I installed WINE and associated stuff today in an attempt to run my P-Touch label software with it. That's gonna require also installing some more MFC DLLs, so I haven't quite succeeded yet.

Maybe a screensaver would be an easier first WINE project.

Wine can be hit or miss, but there is a history of some success with screen savers. I dual boot one computer because of software that won't run in wine period. It's less work for games too.

on Youtube there are 12-hour videos of aquariums and whatnot - could just put one on when you step away for a while. not a "smart" solution but still...

edit: could use youtube-dl to save your bandwidth and maybe automate playing the video or something... 🙂

It's likely under the old Hirens tools and XP rescue stack, just above the You Don't Know Jack game and the Jerky Boys greatest hits😀

Justin you are right I completely forgot about the needs of the cat----
@WetGeek when me and ms partner go to the animal pound the cats are mesmerized by monitors looping scenes of birds as well; widen your scope---I din't think your cat would dig would dig an ISS docking...or Mars pics🙂
